A mixture of indie, grunge, and straight rock, Sonnet to Sleep mixes poeticsm, passion and faith into their music and brings something unfamiliar and refreshing to a diverse scene.
Recording their first EP in 2005 with Matt Goldman and Matt Malpass of Glow in the Dark studios and Marigolds and Monsters Studios in Atl, their first album was supported through relentless showcases and concerts which saw to a quick securing of a licensing deal with a Nashville based independant record label two years later. This opportunity gave Sonnet to Sleep’s freshman effort an international re-release.
Known for strong vocals that have been compared to everyone from Justin Fox, Dave Grohl, Jimmy Gnecco and Jim Adkins, Aaron's vocal prowess is consistently delivered live against a backdrop of driving rhythms and ethereal ambiance; his dark introspective lyrics hint at grace, spirituality and self-exploration.
IN 2009, amidst demoing songs for the sophomore follow up “Angels Fall”, and posturing Sonnet to Sleep for major breakthrough success, Aarons calling was redefined-quietly stepping away, the plug was pulled on the project, and focus switched from music to pursue his passion for Mission and Humanitarian work and the founding of his Not-for Profit Arms Around The World.
However, an artist can never truly step away from their craft, and over the course of the next 3 years, while maintaining his new direction in the non-profit world, music continued to be recorded and written.
The result was Sonnet to Sleep’s official sophomore project, “Affirmative Say Nothing” released in March 2014; and a new approach as Sonnet to Sleep stands as the front runner for mission and humanitarian work.
You can expect a reflection of growth, conviction, and hope that presents an artist that thrives for the cause of eternal significance. Sonnet to Sleep’s grittiness boasts epic ballads, poignant hooks and dreamy ambient-sounds that reintroduces a band that is much more than music.
